Does it seem like summer is going on longer and longer? And that crisp fall days are a thing of the past?  Well, you are correct. Summer temperatures are lasting longer.

September was the second hottest September globally since record-keeping started in 1850. Global ocean surface temperatures were the warmest on record for September. And for the 48 contiguous United States: it was the hottest in 132 years of record-keeping (when averaged throughout the 48 states).

Do you see the pattern here? Month after month new records are being set. With temperatures trending higher and higher.

September 2026 was the planet’s second-hottest September since modern record-keeping began in 1850, NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, or NCEI, reported October 9. NASA and the European Copernicus Climate Change Service also rated it as the second-hottest September, behind 2023. Are you ready for the world getting hotter over the next 5 years? And along the way setting record highs?

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) predicts that the next 5 years are likely to have temperatures soaring to record highs. The causes are climate change (from heat-trapping greenhouse gasses) plus a naturally occurring El Nino (which is expected to start this summer).

Thus WMO Secretary-General Professor Petteri Taalas warns us:

“A warming El Niño is expected to develop in the coming months and this will combine with human-induced climate change to push global temperatures into uncharted territory,” he said. “This will have far-reaching repercussions for health, food security, water management and the environment. We need to be prepared.”

Why isn't everyone in the US government (including Senate and House of Representatives) taking serious steps about climate change? Our climate is changing!
